Furmint

Furmint has many names that are synonymous. In Hungary, it is known as Tokaji, in Styria as Mosler, and in Slovenia, where our vines are located, it is also referred to as Šipon. After Welschriesling (Laški Rizling), it is the most widely grown variety in our area.

Furmint is a rather challenging variety with quite irregular yields. It matures on the vine well into autumn and thrives on a warm and dry climate. We need ideal weather conditions to harvest the quantities we expect from this grape variety, which is susceptible to botrytis. However, hope always pays off. The grape vine and its terroir form an important symbiosis for producing a wine of international renown.
